Downtown Laramie to Gain New Light

The City of Laramie, in partnership with the Laramie Main Street Alliance, will begin the second phase of the downtown street light improvement project on Monday, June 4^th. The lighting project includes upgrades to the wiring system, existing light fixtures as well as the installation of new, antique decorative light poles on 3^rd and 4^th Streets between University Avenue and Custer.

The downtown lighting project will begin June 4^th at 3^rd and University and conclude October 19^th at 4^th and Ivinson.

Work will be done weekly on a block-by-block basis. No street closures are expected and sidewalks, driveways and alleyways will remain open. During construction, there will be no on street parking.

The construction crew will move into an area on a Sunday evening and set up fences and barricades. At this time, there will be no on street parking. On Mondays the crew will saw cut and remove necessary asphalt, excavating access at each light pole. On Tuesdays they will begin horizontal drilling, saw cut concrete and excavate for new pull boxes. By Wednesdays the crew will be pulling wire and backfill the project area, patching holes as they go. Work will conclude on Thursdays with asphalt patching, clean up and removal of fences.

An electrician will install the new light poles in areas already wired as the poles arrive. Poles will be fenced off individually as needed.
