CITY OF LARAMIE PRESS RELEASE:

Tranquility in Historic Downtown Laramie was disrupted in the early morning hours of
Saturday, May 24, 2014 by a significant structure fire. The Laramie Fire Department battled the blaze for over four (4) hours before gaining control at approximately 9:00 AM that day.

Today, Wednesday, May 28, 2014, a construction fence was placed directly in front of the
fire damaged building extending into approximately five to six parking spaces on South
Second Street. The street and sidewalk have now been reopened for traffic, vehicle and
pedestrian, and all businesses have access from South Second Street.

Close monitoring of this area will be done by the City of Laramie. Any necessary actions to
modify the closure area to ensure public safety will be taken immediately. If at any time, an
unsafe condition is observed by the public, please contact the City through Dispatch at
telephone number 721-2526, Community Development at telephone number 721-5207 or
the City Manager’s Office at telephone number 721-5226.

The City of Laramie appreciates the cooperation and understanding of the affected
businesses and public. We regret that some parking will temporarily be lost, but overall
safety is of the utmost importance.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
