Crews Reduced At La Bonte Canyon Fire

Crews continue to make progress fighting a fire in northern Albany County.

The La Bonte Canyon Fire is 75% contained and crews have maintained its size since the weekend.

Because efforts have been so successful, the number of people fighting the blaze has been seriously reduced. Only about 25 people are currently assigned to the fire.

The fire has minimal activity and continues to smolder in spots.

The cause of the fire, which was first reported a week ago, is still unknown.

There are no structures at risk.

The Curtis Gulch Camp Ground remains closed as do many area trails and forest roads.
