LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowgirl golf team will close out its 2021 campaign this week at the Mountain West Golf Championship. It is scheduled for April 20-21 at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

The two-day tournament is set up on the Par-72, 6,270-yard Dinah Shore Golf Course. Play will begin at 8 a.m. MT on Tuesday with 36 holes of play while the third round is also set for 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

Along with the Cowgirls, the tournament field features Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, San Jose State and UNLV. The Cowgirl lineup features Caitlyn Skavdahl, Erin Sargent, Cristiana Ciasca, Samantha Hui and Jessica Zapf.

Wyoming finished the 2019 MW Championship in ninth with a three-round score of 94-over, 958. Sargent was the top finisher with a score of 16-over 232 to place 15th. San Diego State took home the title two seasons ago, while Brigette Thibault of Fresno State was the individual champion.

The Cowgirls have had two individual conference champions since joining the Mountain West. Cowgirl Jonelle Martinez was the Pokes' last conference champion, winning in 2009. Jordan Lintz became the program's first individual conference champion in 2000. The Cowgirls have also had a third-place finisher (Beth Purcell, 1994), six fourth-place finishers and a sixth-place finisher.

The best finish in program history at a conference championship came at the 1994 WAC Championship. Wyoming has finished third at the conference championship four times--all in the WAC.

With a final round of 29-over, 317, the Cowgirls finished the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Tournament with a three round score of +76, 940 to finish 11th last weekend. Denver took home the team title with a final score of 864 (Even).

Pepperdine was second with a score of 3-over 867. Washington was third with a score of 7-over 871. Carly Strole of Grand Canyon took home the top individual with her final of 8-under 208.

Skavdahl was the top finisher for the Cowgirls with a final three round score of 13-over 229. Ciasca completed the weekend with a 16-over, 232 three day score after a final round of 7-over, 79. Hui finished her tournament with a 54-hole score of 20-over 236. She would finish Monday with an 8-over, 80. Zapf went 22-over 238 with her final round of 7-over, 79. Freshman Morgan Ryan went 11-over 83 to go 26-over 242 followed by Sargent with a three round total of 27-over 243.
