A project to resurface a 12-mile stretch of U.S. 85 north of Cheyenne and replace pipes and culverts will begin Monday.

Wyoming Department of Transportation spokesman Matt Murphy says the work will take place between mile markers 35 and 47.

"Work on pipes, culverts and a stock pass at mile marker 42.4 will begin first and will continue through August," said Murphy. "During this phase, no more than two structures will be worked on at a time."

"Temporary traffic controls will be in place at each work area," he added.

Murphy says paving will begin after Labor Day, and all work will wrap up in October.
