The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service says the incoming winter storm may cover the largest area of any such storm in almost 40 years.

The storm is expected to hot late Tuesday or early Wednesday.

The service has released this statement:

"This winter storm may turn out to be the most significant storm in area coverage since the Thanksgiving storm in 1979. For southeast Wyoming this storm looks comparable to the storm of March 23, 2016 which dropped almost 13 inches of snow while producing wind gusts over 50 mph!"
