The Cheyenne Veterans Affairs Medical Center is reporting a phone scam aimed at local veterans.

According to the Cheyenne VAMC Facebook page, the scam features callers claiming to be with the VA and asking for the last four digits of the intended victim's Social Security number.

If the person refuses to give the number, the caller threatens them with arrest.

The call is a scam and the caller is not with Veterans Affairs. The threat of an arrest is bogus as well.

Anyone receiving such a call is being asked to get as much information as possible and to then report the call to the Wyoming Attorney General's Office.
