Cheyenne National Weather Service Warns Of Flood Danger
The Cheyenne office of the National Weather Service is warning about the potential for flooding Saturday afternoon and evening in southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle. The weather service has issued the following statement:
"Widespread rain will continue falling across much of southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska, with another quarter to one inch expected between 6 AM and 6 PM today. Some of these areas received 2 to 4 inches of rain last night. Areas of Flash Flooding have already been reported overnight, most notably across northern Goshen and Scotts Bluff Counties. The threat of flooding will persist today as additional rain falls. Never attempt to drive through water moving over a road."
The bright green areas on the map below have a flood warning in effect, while the darker green areas, including Cheyenne, have a flood watch in effect.
A flood advisory has been posted for the blue-green areas in western Nebraska. A hazardous weather advisory has been posted for the cream-colored areas, including Laramie, Wheatland, and Douglas.
