The great state of Wyoming is well known for its wild winter recreation, featuring everything from ski joring on horseback to speed flying from the top of a mountain.

Every winter, locals flock to the Curt Gowdy State Park for a day Ice Sailing on the Granite Springs Reservoir.

What is Ice Sailing?

Using modified sail boats, fitted with blades specially designed for ice, the brisk winds make Wyoming a perfect spot for this cold weather past time, which dates back to the 17th century.

Ice boats also travel much faster than traditional sail boats, as this video demonstrates. Hold on tight.
