UPDATE (4:30 p.m.)

The inmate who escaped this afternoon has been apprehended, according to Weston County Emergency Management Coordinator Gilbert Nelson.

Nelson told K2 Radio News that after escaping, 42-year-old James Kennah stole a gold-colored 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix from the Gas N Go in Newcastle. Authorities had asked people to be on the lookout for that vehicle.

The stolen car was recovered, Nelson said.

Further details of Kennah's escape and capture were not immediately available.

Wyoming authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped custody in Newcastle on Monday.

James Michael Kennah, 42, is a white man with brown hair and blue eyes. He stands 5'8" tall and weighs roughly 195 pounds, according to Wyoming Department of Corrections spokesman Mark Horan. Kennah was listed as an escapee as of 2:53 p.m. Monday.

Kennah, who had been held at the Wyoming Honor Conservation Camp, was seen running down Highway 85 south toward Newcastle. Local law enforcement was notified, as were area residents, as soon as the escape was confirmed.

The facility was searched, but Kennah was not found.

Kennah was sentenced out of Campbell County earlier this year for buying or receiving stolen property worth at least $500. He was given a three- to six-year sentence.

Kennah should not be approached. Anyone who sees him should call local law enforcement immediately.
