Not wanting to risk a sunburn playing tennis? Racquetball provides a great alternative to lathering on loads of loathsome white liquid. Not sure how to play racquetball? Since it is a little more complex than simply hitting the ball off the wall, you may want to consider refreshing yourself on the rules of the sport before heading into the gym. Racquetball rules can be found online at http://www.insra.org/index.php/rules-ambassador-mainmenu-30/72-easy-rules. Racquetball rackets can also be bought for $10 at Wal-mart, so getting into the sport is affordable.

    Half Acre

Half Acre Gym provides four great racquetball courts. Currently, the courts are completely walled in with no windows/glass for outside viewers to watch. However, the Half Acre renovation plans include racquetball courts with glass, so viewers can watch. The racquetball courts are open during regular Half Acre business hours. However, you may want to call in advance because the courts are sometimes reserved for intramural racquetball and for gym classes. If you are not a current UW student, you can still use the racquetball courts for a $5 fee. However, you need to be accompanied by a UW student or gym member.
