The American shopping holiday, Black Friday, is just around the corner. The Friday after Thanksgiving is when most US retail stores move into the profit margin for the year, thus taking them out of the red and into the black. While many Laramie residents like to travel to Cheyenne or Colorado for major shopping trips, there are plenty of reasons to shop at home this holiday season, and the biggest one is the sales! All retail stores in the Gem City will be open, many of them early, with doorbusters. To make sure you don't miss out on any of the fun, here is my list of the top five Black Friday sales in Laramie.

    Brown'N'Gold Outlet

What Wyoming fan wouldn't want some more Cowboy and Cowgirl gear for the holiday season? The Brown'N'Gold will be opening early at 8 a.m. with sales on just about everything - sweatshirts, tees, ladies items. Casey and the crew are still going through the inventory and pricing items for Black Friday, but they do know they'll have hats marked down 25-50% off.

    Byrd's Paradise

This store makes the list because it's a great place to pick up unique gifts and literally everything in the store is on sale. Handmade or vendor-consigned items are 20% off and all other items are 40% off. I'm serious. The least you will save is 20%, how do you pass that up? You don't, you hand over the cash and get out of the store before they change their mind.

    Maurices

Reindeer Rush Hour is one of the best doorbusters in town, and it's not so early that you have to think about going to bed early on Thanksgiving night. The store will open at 8 a.m. and until noon you can get puffer vests for $19.90, cowl neck sweaters for $19.90, moccasins for $14.90 and scarves for $9.90. There will also be a special Silver jeans surprise that apparently is so awesome they can't even talk about it yet.

    Works of Wyoming

I fully realize that many people do not know where Works of Wyoming is located, or that they sell stuff. But they do, and it's all sorts of good stuff made by Wyoming artists. So if you're looking for something to send to family or friends from good ole Wyo, this is the place to go. You can find handmade soaps, knitted hats and scarves, jewelry for the UW fan and handmade cards all at the Laramie Plains Civic Center in Suite 271. Oh, and did I mention that a significant amount of the art work will be 60% off? Minor detail, so yes, you will want to stop by between 1 and 5 pm.

    The Music Box

The top spot on this list goes to a place where you can find something for pretty much everyone on your list at a discounted rate. They'll be opening at 7 a.m. on Black Friday with doorbusters on Beats by Dr. Dre, NXG, House of Marley headphones, pocketknives, cell phone accessories, pre-owned video games, car audio and more. There will be closeouts in all departments throughout the day and some great deals on large electronics. A Haier 42" LCD TV for $496, a Panasonic 50" Plasma TV for $887, Sony Google TV's $50-$100 instant rebates, select home theater receivers and speakers up to 40% off and that's only my favorites from the list of sales at this downtown Laramie store.
