Another Wyoming Avalanche Death
JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — A man was killed in an avalanche in Wyoming after stepping onto a cornice in an out-of-bounds area at Grand Targhee Resort.
The Bridger Teton Avalanche Center says the man clicked out of his bindings and went under a rope line and on to a cornice at about 4 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses say he broke through and fell onto the slope below, triggering an avalanche that buried him under 2 feet of snow.
His body was found by a Grand Targhee avalanche dog.
The man had died from trauma.
The man's name, age and hometown have not been released.
