The Wyoming Cowboys offense produced four scores, while the defense had four sacks and 14 tackles for loss in Saturday’s scrimmage in Cheyenne.

Red-shirt sophomore quarterback Josh Allen threw two touchdown passes of 25 and five yards to Tanner Gentry and Jake Maulhardt, respectively. Allen completed 8-of-19 passes for 119 yards.

The two other scores came from a pair of running backs. Red-shirt senior Shaun Wick scored from ten yards out, while red-shirt freshmen Milo Hall had the longest TD with a 40-yard run.

Hall led the Cowboys on the ground with 53 yards on 11 carries.

Defensively, sophomore Kevin Prosser registered two sacks and had four tackles in the scrum. Junior corner Robert Priester and sophomore outside linebacker Christian Irving had five total tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss apiece to pace the Pokes defense. The other two sacks came from sophomore Carl Granderson and senior Eric Nzeocha.

Head coach Craig Bohl presented his thoughts after the scrimmage was over.

“I thought Josh (Allen) threw the ball well, particularly with our older receivers. It was great to see Shaun Wick out there running again. I think he is going to be a really good weapon for us. I thought he had a great run on the 10-yard TD. I also thought our defensive ends rushed the passer well today.”

Bohl did say they omitted special teams because of the weather.

“We did not incorporate any of our kicking game into today’s practice.  I thought that would be counterproductive (due to the wind in Cheyenne Saturday.)”

Wyoming went through a total of 72 plays at Central High School’s Riske Field. The Cowboys return to practice with their 10th session of spring drills Tuesday afternoon.
