An Albany County man charged with sexual abuse of a minor was sentenced today in Albany County District Court.

Kenneth Matthew Lovato, 51, was sentenced to 18 to 20 years on count one followed by 18 to 20 years of prison on count two, to run consecutively for a total of 36 to 40 years in prison.

Prosecutor Kurt Britzius said Lovato’s criminal history indicated that the only way to deter Lovato was to remove him from society where he would not have access to minors.

Lovato was arrested in July 2016 after Albany County Sheriff’s deputies investigated complaints against him. According to court documents, Lovato gave alcohol and pills to a boy before sexually abusing him in his cabin in Jelm.
