In a study conducted by digital news outlet Quartz, Albany County was found to have the shortest commute in the nation, with an average commute lasting 12.4 minutes, compared to the national average of 25.7 minutes.

Quartz spoke to Susan Adler, the county's assistant planner, who said that "we're a small community and we really don't have the traffic."

In addition to the commute times, the study found that 6.2% of Albany County residents work from home, 2.5% take public transportation, 5.8% of residents bike to work, and 2.4% commute to a different state to work.
