An early second half run by Utah State put the Aggies in control, and they held off the Wyoming Cowboys for a 56-44 win in Logan, Utah Tuesday night.

Utah State (12-8, 5-3) got 16 points and five rebounds from David Collette, and Chris Smith added 13 points in the victory.

Wyoming (17-4, 6-2) was led by Riley Grabau, who scored a season-high 16 points. He tied his career-high with five 3-pointers. Larry Nance Jr. added 14 points and six rebounds.

An early 8-0 run gave the Aggies a lead they would never relinquish. A three-quarter court shot off the glass by Grabau pulled UW within 29-26 at half.

Then, Utah State came out on a 9-0 spurt to start the second half and went up 38-26. The lead grew to 14 points with just over six minutes left. The Cowboys quickly cut it to seven, but managed only one field goal over the final four minutes.

Wyoming shot only 36 percent from the field and committed 14 turnovers.

Utah State shot 48 percent from the floor and scored 14 points off the Cowboys turnovers. The Aggies also out-scored the Pokes 30-18 on point in the paint.

Wyoming will try to bounce back Saturday, when they host Nevada in Laramie. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
