Folks here in Wyoming have seen some crazy storms over the years, but never one quite like this. 62 years ago, on April 3, 1955, heavy snow started falling in Sheridan...and it kept coming for three days.

24 hours into the blizzard, Sheridan had already received 26.7 inches of snow. The next day brought another foot of snow, bringing the two-day total to 39 inches. When the storm finally subsided, 43 hours after it began, four feet of snow had fallen.

Over six decades later, it still holds the record for the most snowfall ever recorded from a single storm in the state of Wyoming,

Record snowfall was also recorded in Billings, Montana. This amateur film, recorded by a local Chiropractor, documented the storm as it arrived 130 miles northwest of Sheridan.
