Authorities continue to investigate the disappearance of a Cheyenne boy whose body was reportedly thrown in a dumpster last year.

"We get little tidbits here and there," said Laramie County District Attorney Jeremiah Sandburg. "I know that they're still in the active investigation at the Sheriff's Office."

Thirteen-month-old Silas Ojeda is believed to have died around Oct. 21, 2016, while in the care of Logan Rogers, his mother's boyfriend at the time.

Rogers told detectives that he dumped Silas' body in a trash bin near Laramie County Community College, but a search of the landfill in Ault, Colorado, as well as various searches around Cheyenne, failed to turn up any remains.

"The mom keeps getting drug into this," said Sandburg. "All the evidence that we've seen would indicate that she was not around when the kid disappeared and was only
made aware of it sometime later."

As part of a plea deal, Rogers pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter on Nov. 18 and was sentenced to 18 to 20 years in prison on March 16.

During his sentencing, Rogers told the court that his plea was coerced and that Silas was still alive.

"He's said so many different things now you can't believe him," said Sandburg. "Every time you talk to him it's a different story."

"I would be shocked quite frankly (if Silas is still alive) with all the other evidence we had in the case," Sandburg added.
