Wyoming Track and Field competes at the Mountain West Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, NM Thursday through Saturday.

The Albuquerque Convention Center serves as the host site for the three-day meet.

The Cowboys took sixth, and the Cowgirls placed ninth at last year’s event. Both teams scored 41 points. Wyoming looks to be in position for better results this year.

UW has the top marks in both the men’s and women’s long jump and triple jump. Senior All-American Ja’la Henderson leads the MW in both, while sophomore William Nolan holds the same position for the men. Senior Jerayah Davis has the second-best mark in the long jump. She’s also third in the conference in the 60-meter dash.

Junior Hap Frketich is ranked No. 1 in the men’s weight throw. Teammates Kirk Unland and Eric McArthur are also in the top five.

The distance and mid-distance crew has several runners that may contend in various events. Seniors Michael Downey and Bryce Ailshie, plus juniors Chris Henry and Paul Roberts will be looking to score points this weekend.

Wyoming head coach Bryan Berryhill feels good about both squads entering the meet.

Action for UW begins with the distance medley relays Thursday at 4 p.m. The bulk of the competition is Friday and Saturday with events starting at 12:30 p.m. and 10 a.m. on those two days, respectively.
