On Saturday night, July 30th, a 42 year old man will jump from a plane with no parachute, no wing suit and plunge to the earth from 25,000 ft. His life will rest in the hands of Wyoming meteorologist Don Day as Day will be calling the shots for the jump depending on the weather.

Luke Aikins is the jumper and he is looking to make history Saturday night on live television as he jumps from 25,000 ft and attempts to land in a catch net that is suspended 200 ft off the ground and only measures 100x100 ft. The fall is expected to take about 2 minutes and Aikins is expected to be traveling at approximately 170mph when he hits the catch net on his back with G Forces at about 4.5. Don Day will be giving him the current wind directions and speeds to help him direct his movements to hit the bulls-eye.

The relationship between these two goes back more than 4 years as they both worked with Felix Baumgartner on his record setting jump in 2012. Luke helped train Felix and Don Day took care of the forecasting for that jump as well.

Luke comes into this jump with over 18,000 jumps he does movie stunt work, serves as a safety and training advisor for the United States Parachute Association (USPA) as an instructor to the instructors and provides advanced skydiving training to elite military special forces. Don Day come into this jump as a meteorologist with many years experience and a number of special projects on his resume.

Saturdays event will be broadcast live on FOX television at 6pm mtn and the outcome will be determined by the combined talents of the team put together for this record breaking event.
