RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) — Officials from the Wyoming Department of Health believe six cases of gastrointestinal illness discovered this month in Fremont County are connected.

However, the source of the outbreak, which included several Salmonella infections, has not yet been identified.

Health Department spokeswoman Kim Deti says a team of epidemiologists was in Lander last week investigating "several clusters" of gastrointestinal illness.

Deti says the problem appears to be limited to daycare and preschool attendees, adding that there is no evidence at this time the illnesses are related to school meals.

She says the Health Department is continuing to conduct interviews and receive lab results.
