Bailee Cotton scored a career-high 19 points to lead the Wyoming Cowgirls to an 89-60 victory over San Jose State Wednesday night in Laramie.

UW won its eighth straight game and remained perfect in the Mountain West. The eight consecutive victories ties the longest streak since 2005-2006. This matches the best start to conference play since 2008.

Four other Cowgirls scored in double figures. Liv Roberts scored 19 points and grabbed a career-best 13 rebounds. Natalie Baker and Taylor Rusk added 14 points apiece, while Hailey Ligocki contributed 10. That’s the first time this season, and first time since Feb. 3, 2016 against Air Force, that UW has had five players score in double figures.

Wyoming (14-3, 6-0) never trailed in the game. They scored the first seven points on a Baker lay-in, three-pointer by Roberts and a lay-up from Cotton. The two teams pushed the tempo in the opening quarter, and the Cowgirls held a 28-21 lead at the end of it. That was as close as San Jose State got to Wyoming. UW extended to a 49-36 lead by halftime. Their advantage reached 26 points in the third quarter.

The Spartans got seven quick points from Dezz Ramos and trimmed the Cowgirls lead to 74-58 early in the fourth quarter. Wyoming responded with the next 15 straight points and closed out a 29-point victory.

UW shot 47 percent in the game. It was 56 percent through the first three quarters before the Cowgirls cooled off in the last period. They out-rebounded the Spartans 48-38 and had 22 assists to just eight turnovers. Wyoming also scored a season-high 48 points in the paint.

San Jose State (6-12, 3-3) was led by Ramos with a game-high 29 points. They shot only 33 percent from the floor.

The Cowgirls return to action at home Saturday against New Mexico. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. from the Arena-Auditorium.
