The Wyoming Department of Transportation announced Thursday that some services will be limited during the holidays, but essential services will still be in place.

According to a statement from the department, state agencies like WYDOT will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. However, the Wyoming Highway Patrol, dispatch, and WYDOT maintenance crews will remain on duty to ensure travel safety.

“We’re thankful that WYDOT employees will have time off to spend with their loved ones this holiday season,” said WYDOT Director Bill Panos. “But we want to assure our entire Wyoming family that we will still have essential personnel available in cases of emergencies and to keep the state’s infrastructure running as safely as possible.”

WYDOT closure dates for Christmas are Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25. The department will be operating under normal business hours on Dec. 26, 27, 28, and 31. The department will be closed for New Year’s Day.

Motorists can still get the latest road and travel information by visiting WYDOT’s 5-1-1 web page. They can also download the department’s 5-1-1 app, which also has a hands free mode for safe traveling, to get the latest updates.
