Winter Storm Warning For SE Wyoming Mountains

The National Weather Service office in Cheyenne is warning that the higher ranges of the Snowy and Sierra Madre mountains could receive up to two feet of snow by Monday afternoon, with more snow forecast for southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska Monday night and Tuesday.

The weather service has issued the following statement:

"Periods of snow will continue today through Monday afternoon over the higher terrain of Carbon and Albany counties. The snow may be heavy at times, with total accumulations from one to two feet. The highest peaks of the Snowy and Sierra Madre mountains could measure more than two feet. Outdoor recreationists should prepare for poor visibility in falling and blowing snow, with difficult travel along mountain passes. Elsewhere, occasional light rain and snow will prevail today for the valleys and plains. A passing upper level disturbance will bring accumulating snow to southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska Monday night and Tuesday.
