The Wyoming Highway Patrol says there were seven crashes on Interstate-80 between Laramie and Cheyenne on Friday, in an event that kept the road closed for over 12 hours.

WHP Sergeant Kyle McKay said of the seven crashes, four of them involved injuries and there were no fatalities.

McKay said some of the crashes involved trucks that had slid off the road, which took some effort to get going again.

I-80 was closed from 12:50 p.m. Friday, April 13 and did not open again until 8:02 a.m. Saturday morning, April 14. McKay said there were factors complicating getting the road open, such as wind and blowing snow.

Mckay said the length of the closure was also impacted by I-80 in Nebraska being closed because of winter weather conditions, as a snowstorm was affecting the area.
