The Wyoming Highway Patrol has provided details of the fatal accident on Wyoming Highway 220 southwest of Casper on Tuesday morning.

At approximately 5:27am, a mid-sized SUV, driven by 29-year-old Damian Coombes of Evanston, was traveling northbound on Hwy 220 near mile marker 50. The weather was clear and the road was dry.

A commercial tractor-trailer rig was headed southbound and for unknown reasons, the SUV crossed over the center line and collided head on with the semi.

Both vehicles came to rest in the center of the road, and caught fire. Damian Coombes was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the commercial truck was taken to a hospital in Rawlins.
