Five University of Wyoming students will sing-off Friday, Feb. 15, for the chance to be named the UW Idol winner.

The competition begins at 9 p.m. in the UW College of Arts and Sciences auditorium and is free and open to the public.

UW Idol finalists are Jeremy Gross, Riverton; Victor Pokorny, Jackson; Alison Rickard, Laramie; Levi Caleb Robinson, Rawlins; and Christine Tezak, Laramie.

Each contestant will perform in front of a panel of three judges, which includes last year’s winner, Corey Winfield. The finals will feature a guest judge from the Puerto Rican-based a cappella group, Nota, that will perform on campus Friday, Feb. 22. Nota was the 2009 winner of NBC’s “The Sing-Off.”

UW Idol finals prizes are $1,000 for first place, $500 for second, $300 for third and $100 for the audience choice. Additionally, the first-place winner will sing with Nota during its Feb. 22 campus performance. UW students are admitted free to the Nota performance.
