Friday, Aug. 29, 7 p.m.  -- Cowboy Kickoff Concert and Pep Rally with country music star Craig Morgan, Tailgate Park on the corner of 20th Street and Grand Avenue. Tickets cost $25 in advance for adults or $35 at the gate the day of the show; students $10 in advance, $15 the day of the show; and children under 12 pay just $8. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2 p.m. -- The Cowboys open the football season against the University of Montana Grizzlies in War Memorial Stadium. Ticket prices vary.

A variety of exhibitions can be seen at the UW Art Museum, located in the Centennial Complex, 2111 Willet Drive. The museum is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Free.

Dinosaur skeletons, ancient mammal fossils and other exhibits are on display in the UW Geological Museum, open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.

The UW Department of Botany’s Williams Conservatory is open to the public from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Fridays. Free.
