Scotia Mullin is the first University of Wyoming diver to ever earn All-American honors in back-to-back years. He is also gay. Born in Scotland and raised in Australia, Mullin recently documented his remarkable journey in an Outsports editorial.

"At Wyoming, I was nervous at first that living in such a conservative state would present troubles and would push me out of my comfort zone. The truth was totally different," Mullin wrote. "They not only tolerated me being gay but appreciated and valued it."

Only a sophomore, Mullin is already the most decorated diver in school history. But he hopes to have an even bigger impact away from the pool. After college, the Anthropology and Geography double-major is planning to become an epidemiologist in Africa.

For now, Mullin hopes that his story can inspire other LGBT athletes, writing "it is important that we all have the resilience to accept and express who we truly are with courage and without fear."
