University of Wyoming men’s basketball team has landed postseason play, on Sunday accepting an invitation from the College Basketball Invitational (CBI).

The tournament starts in Laramie Wednesday at 7 p.m. Mountain Time against Eastern Washington at Arena-Auditorium.

This will be Wyoming’s fifth appearance in the 16-team CBI. The Eastern Washington Eagles bring a 22-11 record that finished second in the Big Sky Conference.

Cowboy first-year head coach Allen Edwards calls it a tremendous opportunity – mentioning an 18-14 record this past season, “This can help propel us into next season.”

The Pokes tied a school record 307 three-pointers this and averaged 9.6 threes per game to rank No. 20 in the nation. Cowboy offense finished second in the MWC in scoring, averaging 77.5 points per game.

The CBI’s eight First Round games will start on Wednesday. The Quarterfinal Round is Monday, March 20 and the Semifinal Round games are Wednesday, March 22. A best-of-three Championship Series tips off on Monday, March 27.
