Some people wish that more big box stores would come to Laramie so there would be more variety in shopping in Laramie. However, if you take the time to stroll through downtown, you will find a many more unique--and sometimes a little weird--products than you would ever find in a Target or Macy's. Further, large big box stores do not carry Laramie-specific products, or products are may be useful to people in Laramie but not in other places. These little differences make shopping in Laramie an adventure because you will never know what you will find. The following list showcases many of the unique, fun products in Laramie stores.

  • Vintage Licenses Plates: NU 2 U

Have a blank wall that could use a little color and pizazz? NU 2 U has a variety of vintage licenses plates that are great to decorate with. If you're looking to enhance the "Wyomingness" of your home, many of the licenses plates are Wyoming plates dating back to the 1980s. And don't worry about the license plates not color coordinating--they all have elements of brown and gold. In addition to the Wyoming license plates, there are also plates from the surroundings states such as Utah, Nebraska, Colorado, and even Minnesota.

  • Gourd Bird Houses: Artisans Gallery

With the weather getting nice, it's time to fix up the backyard and porch. Besides trimming the landscaping and planting new flowers, one of the best ways to beautify your yard is to invite some new "neighbors" to move in. Birds always make great addition to yards since they provide free concerts (although sometimes their concerts comes a little too early on Saturday mornings). The Artisans Gallery has many beautiful, hand-painted bird houses made from dried and hallowed gourds. The gourds are painted with a variety of patterns, such as flowers and merry-go-rounds. They are so meticulously painted that you might consider putting them up for show, and putting another bird house up for the birds. After all you will appreciate the beauty more than the birds.
