Two new, smaller fires have started in the vicinity of the Badger Creek Fire and fire resources are on the scene.

The five acre Lake Creek Fire burning northwest of Fox Park was spotted Monday, July 2 in the afternoon by fire officials. Resources from the U.S. Forest Service and Albany County are responding to the fire. Badger Creek Fire officials say that the Badger Creek Fire crews were able to loan resources, including engines, a Type 1 helicopter and a 20 person hand crew.

Badger Creek Fire officials say the fire is not contained, but crews were able to engage the fire immediately and build hand lines and dozer lines around the fire.

Dry Park dispersed camping remains evacuated and the Lake Owen campground is under pre-evacuation. The cause of the Lake Creek Fire is unknown.

A second fire, the Spruce Fire, is located southeast of Rob Roy reservoir, off of Forest Service Road 507c and is currently estimated at one acre. Badger Creek Fire officials say there are currently local resources on scene responding to the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The Badger Creek Fire is currently estimated at 21,190 acres. As of Monday, July 2, the fire is 80 percent contained.
