Cheyenne attorney and former state representative Mary Throne will officially announce her candidacy for Wyoming Governor during a kickoff event at the Kiwanis Community House tomorrow (Saturday) at 5 p.m.

The 56-year-old Throne, who is a Democrat, was born and raised in Campbell County and received her law degree from Columbia in 1988. She served in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 2007 to 2016.

In advance of the full announcement Throne said, “Wyoming is a special place to all of us. It’s where I chose to raise my family and where I hope they’ll have the opportunity to raise theirs."

"With strong leadership, we can be more than a boom and bust state," Throne added. "Today’s problems deserve better than yesterday’s thinking and that’s why I’m running for Governor.”

Throne and Sheridan businessman Bill Dahlin, a Republican, are the only two candidates who have thrown their hats in the ring so far.

They could face former congresswoman Cynthia Lummis, Secretary of State Ed Murray and/or Treasurer Mark Gordon, all Republicans, who are often mentioned as potential candidates for the state's top elected office in 2018.
