Kidde has recalled over 450,000 dual-sensor smoke alarms due to risk of failure to alert consumers of a fire.

The recall involves models PI2010 and PI9010 that were sold between September 2016 and January 2018. The smoke alarms have "KIDDE" printed on the front center and the model number and date code printed on the back.

Anyone who has one of the recalled models should look for a yellow cap on the inside of the smoke alarm. If the cap is present, they should immediately contact Kidde to receive instructions and request a free replacement smoke alarm.

Kidde has received one report of the yellow cap being present on a smoke alarm before it was installed in a person’s home, but no reports of incidents or injuries have been reported.
