If you've been to Laramie or went to school in Laramie, then, no doubt, you are familiar with Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium at the University of Wyoming.

The year was 1949, some years after the ending of World War II, that ground breaking began for what we now know as War Memorial Stadium. The actual building of the stadium really got underway in the spring and summer of 1950.

War Memorial Stadium replaced the old Corbett Field, that got it's beginning in the year 1922. It is now a parking lot for students involved with the Business School, just southeast of the Half Acre Gym.

The UW Cowboys played their first game on September 16, 1950 and still known as the oldest stadium in the Mountain West Conference.
