Larry Nance, Jr. scored 17 points and grabbed 5 rebounds to help the Wyoming Cowboys stay undefeated with a 68-42 victory over the Denver Pioneers Tuesday night.

Wyoming (7-0) trailed Denver 16-11 with eight minutes left in the first half. Sparked by six points from Josh Adams, the Cowboys put together a 12-0 run over a four minute span to take the lead for good. It was capped by Alan Herndon's 3-point play.

University of Wyoming head men's basketball coach Larry Shyatt said,

"We took some difficult shots to start the game, and got ourselves in a hole. We were down 9-2 early, but from that points on that's as good as I've seen a Wyoming team play during my four years here."

A huge difference was defense. The Pioneers started 6-for-10 from the field over the first 12 minutes. That included three 3-pointers. Denver made only nine baskets and shot 31 percent the rest of the game. The Pokes led 27-20 at the break.

The second half was all about team play. UW assisted on ten of their 12 made field goals in the period. They led by as many as 27 points. It was a quick 13-3 spurt at the start of the half, where the Cowboys made sure they were never threatened by the Pioneers.

Shyatt added, "I thought once we hunkered down; once we got control of the game and established Nance's presence inside, it started to change everything."

Adams finished with 11 points and six assists. Charles Hankerson Jr contributed ten points and five assists, all in the second half. Herndon added nine points and six boards. The Cowboys shot 59.5 percent (22-37) in the game, which included 71 percent in the second half. They also finished with 15 assists and only seven turnovers.

Denver (3-3) was led by Cam Griffin with 13 points and five rebounds. They shot only 38.5 percent (15-39) from the floor. They committed 11 turnovers.

The Wyoming Cowboys will head out on the road for the first time this season Friday. They will be in Dallas, Texas to face the SMU Mustangs. The game is set for a 5 p.m., Mountain Time start.
