RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) — Authorities say they have arrested a 17-year-old boy accused of writing a note that threatened a Columbine High School-type shooting at a Wyoming school.

Todd Byerley of the Riverton Police Department says the note referenced the 1999 Colorado school shooting that killed 13 people in 1999 and said similar violence could take place at Riverton High School.

The note was found at the Riverton school, prompting school officials and police Tuesday night to issue notice of a general threat. Officers were stationed at all of the district's schools on Wednesday.

The arrest was made Thursday based on evidence found during a police search.

The teen has been charged with felony juvenile delinquency connected to terroristic threats. School officials say the teen will be expelled.
