Squirrel Creek Fire

The year was 2012. The fire began on June 30, it was contained on July 9th and was officially called "out" in mid-December. By the time it was all said and done, the Squirrel Creek Fire had burned nearly 11,000 acres of land approximately 30 miles southwest of Laramie.

Laramie has given up on rescheduling last year's Fourth of July fireworks.

The nearly 11,000 acre Squirrel Creek Fire is 100% contained, this according to a release sent by California Interagency Incident Management Team Four Monday night. Rain and cooler temperatures have slowed down the Squirrel Creek Fire, allowing firefighters access into the fire's perimeter of up to 100 feet. Authorities expect it to be fully contained by the end of Sunday, July 8.
