The Encampment-Riverside Lions Club is making their final preparations for the 2012 Woodchopper's Jamboree and Rodeo that takes place in a little less than a month. This will be the 52nd running of the event as it has become a tradition in the community that lures in competitors from all over the United States to compete for the title of Rocky Mountain Champion Lumberjack. One thing's for sure, the event makes for a fun, action-packed day not only for those trying to win the title but for spectators as well.

While Laramie does have a few nice places to take your kids swimming, with the Recreation Center hands down being the best option in town, there is not a major water park in the immediate area. Fortunately Water World in Denver is only two hours away and can make for a great getaway to entertain kids and adults alike.

Both Laramie Jubilee Days and Cheyenne Frontier Days will be headed our way before we know it, but if you are itching to see some a little rodeo action before then, you might want to take a quick trip down to Loveland. Championship Bull Riding takes over the Budweiser Events Center on Saturday, May 12th at 8PM "On the Road to Cheyenne" where the CBR World Championships are held.

Wyoming has a lot of uncharted territory to explore, but if you're unfamiliar with an area, it can be pretty intimidating to head out into the middle of nowhere. The Biodiversity Conservation Alliance is offering some free guided tours of the Red Desert in May and June as a way to show off some of the wildest country Wyoming has to offer.

If St. Patty's Day has you feeling some Irish pride, then you may want to consider purchasing tickets to see Celtic Thunder at the Budweiser Events Center on Nov. 20. Yes, that seems like a long ways off, but you don't want to chance an event like this one selling out before you get the chance to secure your seat.
Hot Springs in the Laramie Area – Our Top 4
While everyone dreams about taking a quick trip to someplace warm, like the California beaches, there are much closer, warm places to visit. Thanks to all the geological activity in the West, Laramie is surrounded by several hot springs, which provide a quicker (and more affordable) way to enjoy some warmth in the cold weather.
Forest Service Cabins in the Snowy Range – Quick Trips
Up in the Snowy Mountains, the Forest Service maintains two cabins and one old fire lookout that are available for rent. These cabins provide a great alternative to winter camping for skiers, snow shoers, and snowmobilers, and they provide more comfortable accommodations in the summer for hikers, backpackers, and families.
