BASIX, an award-winning a cappella ensemble, has been announced as the surprise guests for the University of Wyoming Cultural Programs holiday performance Friday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the UW Fine Arts concert hall.

Tickets cost $12 for the public and students. Tickets are available at the Fine Arts box office, the Wyoming Union information desk or online.

BASIX won the Contemporary a Cappella Recording award for its first album, “The Grass,” which went platinum in 2010. Since then, the group has toured all over the world, including the United States, Cyprus, Luxembourg and Germany.

“You probably remember BASIX from their two other visits to Laramie, or you at least remember the screaming fans and 45-minute wait for an autograph,” says UW Cultural Programs Director Cedric Reverand.

The UW Happy Jacks will perform as the opening act. The Happy Jacks, a group that auditioned from the university's larger men's choir, the UW Singing Statesmen, perform a wide range of hits that include classics from the 1960s, contemporary chart-toppers and original compositions. The ensemble has performed at UW sporting events, for alumni and students, and was the featured group at an arts festival in Shanghai, China.
