The Laramie Plainsmen turned a four-point halftime lead into another big win, as they beat the Rock Springs Tigers 59-43 Friday night in Laramie.

Laramie (6-3) beat the Tigers for the second time in eight days. It was also their fifth win in their last six games. Meanwhile, the Laramie Lady Plainsmen (4-6) lost to Rock Springs by a final of 37-31.

Laramie Plainsmen

It was a 10-0 run to end the first quarter that gave LHS the lead. Rock Springs cut the lead down to 26-22 at half. Then, the Plainsmen turned up the defensive pressure and allowed only 11 points over the first 12 minutes of the second half.

Laramie out-scored the Tigers 16-7 in the third and the lead grew all the way to 26 points midway through the final period.

Jake Aadland scored a game-high 21 points, while Andy Pearson added ten points and seven rebounds. LHS shot 42 percent from the field and knocked down seven 3-pointers. They also took advantage of 19 Rock Springs turnovers.

The Tigers were led by Demetrius Davenport with eight points. Rock Springs (2-8) shot 41 percent, but took 23 less shots than Laramie.

Laramie Lady Plainsmen

The Lady Plainsmen lost to the Tigers for the second time in eight days.

The game was tied at 24 going into the fourth quarter. A quick 8-0 spurt by Rock Springs to start the final period put them in control. Seven turnovers by Laramie hurt their chances over the final frame.

The Tigers were plus-9 on the glass and shot 14 more free throws than LHS. They were led by Lexy Newman with 11 points and Mariah Smith with ten. Rock Springs (5-5) shot 29 percent from the floor.

Laramie struggled against the Tigers for a second straight game. The Lady Plainsmen shot only 23 percent. Savannah Cox led the way with 16 points and six rebounds.

Both Laramie High School basketball teams are back in action today. LHS will host Green river in a girls-boys doubleheader starting at 11:30 a.m.
