Question:

The current method of street sweepings seems very ineffective. The sweeper goes around parked cars but past entire blocks where no cars are parked and the street could be cleaned but is not. I assume this is because the sweeper must stay on a specific route. Can anything be done to increase the effectiveness of this process so that entire streets do not remain unswept because of parked cars?

Answer:

"City staff avoid sweeping streets in areas where trash carts are set out. Unless an entire street is lined with trash and/or recycling carts, it should not be missed. Our goal is to get into all areas where cars are not parked. To avoid noise issues in residential areas, sweeping does not begin earlier than 7:00 a.m.

We ask that residents do not rake or blow leaves into the street. There are programs in place for residents to dispose of leaves and green waste, including the drop off site at the Laramie Landfill. There is also the option to sign up for McBride's Yard Waste service.

Ask the City Of Laramie is your chance to send the city that burning question that you have always wondered about such as: “Where can I get a city parking permit?” or “Why did my water usage rates go through the roof?”

Please note that the City of Laramie will answer as many questions as possible at their discretion.
