Like most college towns, Laramie has its fair share of folks who use bicycles as their main mode of transportation. A Laramie resident made a suggestion to the city council to put in some designated bike lanes and a pilot program is currently being developed by Laramie's Community Development and Parks and Recreation departments.

Currently the plan is to create a year-round bicycle commuter lane on Ivinson Street from First to Ninth. The addition of the bike lane would most likely mean a lower speed limit on that stretch of road and cars would not be allowed to pass bicycles. If the pilot program is a success, the bike lane could eventually be extended on Ivinson to 15th Street. The goal was originally to implement the program on July 1st, but that will likely be pushed back to late summer or early fall as the approval process continues.
