Since Boot Barn's closure just over a year ago, the building at 158 N 3rd in Downtown Laramie that housed it has remained empty. However, an established business will be taking over the building.

Sears will be moving from its South 2nd Street location into the old Boot Barn location. After the closure of Sears in Cheyenne at Frontier Mall, the owners of Laramie's Sears Hometown Store were approached by corporate with an offer for them to buy the store. After making the decision to buy, owners Lindsay and Scott Hartman decided to move the store and expand their offerings, eventually deciding to take over the old Boot Barn.

In addition to their current offerings, the store will include a selection of in-stock mattresses and an expanded array of lawn equipment.

Although the move has already started, Sears will close the doors on its current location April 26, after which all remaining items will be moved into the new building in time for their grand opening on April 28.

"Everybody's so excited about the change. We'll be a little tired, but it will be better in the long run," said manager Megan Beck about the move.

Beck also mentioned community excitement, adding that "we're really excited about being part of the Laramie community" and that "it's exciting to be a part of something bigger than ourselves."

At press time, there is no word on what will happen to the old Sears Hometown Store location at 411 S 2nd Street.
