The new Laramie City Council elected Scott Mullner to be Mayor of the City of Laramie and President of the City Council in their regular meeting Tuesday night. Karl McCraken was elected Vice-Mayor and Vice-President of City Council.

The mayor and vice-mayor are selected every two years by the city council in their first meeting in January according to the city website.

Mullner replaced outgoing mayor Jodi Guerin.  Guerin was an at-large representative on the City Council who was not re-elected.  Her at-large seat was won by Dave Paulekas.

Three new council members took the oath of office Tuesday night.  Paulekas was joined by Roger McKinley and Lee Kempert.  McKinley took the Ward 3 seat replacing Dee Mickelson and Kempert replaced Bryan Shuster in Ward 2.

All three outgoing members of the council were presented with plaques in honor of their service to the city.  After accepting her plaque, Guerin reflected on her eight years on the council and commented that she enjoyed 99% of her time serving the City of Laramie.  She then talked of the strength of the new council and addressed them saying:

"I wish you all well, wish you all patience, wish you all perseverance."

Four members of the City Council were nominated for mayor.  Mullner received four votes, Klaus Hanson and Karl McCraken each received two votes and Joe Shumway received one vote.
