Public Input Sought on Friendship Playground

The Cheyenne Parks and Recreation Department will hold an open house on Wednesday, May 18 to gather public input on the Cahill Park Friendship Playground.

"It's really just an opportunity for the public to come in and see the design," said Senior Planner Teresa Moore. "They'll be able to see what play features are going in there and what we're trying to accomplish with this project."

The universally accessible playground will be themed around Cheyenne's transportation history and will feature equipment that people of all ages and abilities can use.

"One of the play features is a covered wagon that rocks back and forth," said Moore. "With a mobility device, you'll be able to just wheel right up and get on."

Moore says they hope to break ground on the nearly $1 million playground by August.

"Our goal was really to extend the fundraising and hopefully be able to build the entire project at once," said Moore. "We're about at 75 percent of our goal."

A Go Fund Me page has been set up for anyone wishing to donate to the project.

The open house will be held at the Kiwanis Community House from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
