Firefighters in Campbell County are doing everything they can to contain a fire which scorched 1,000 acres overnight.

The Stallions Fire in the Bittercreek area is threatening several buildings, according to the Campbell County Fire Department.

"Firefighters have been literally working around the clock," the department says on its Facebook page.

A number of resources from multiple agencies are working to extinguish the blaze, and will continue that fight through Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Coon Track Creek Fire burning south of Rozet is estimated at 800 acres in size. That blaze is not threatening any buildings, though firefighting resources will remain on scene.

A number of other fires in Campbell County have been contained as of Tuesday morning, the department says, and firefighters will continue working on some of those blazes.

On Monday, the department asked the public to avoid calling dispatch for updates on the fires, as all personnel are "swamped."
