There is a new display headed to gallery 234, located in the basement of the Student Union at the University of Wyoming, and it comes from a unique source; Laramie's children. The new gallery of art is entitled "Our Culture, Our Pride" and goes on display May19th through the 25th; it will be open daily from 8AM to 5PM.

One of the teachers at Linford Elementary School in West Laramie, Colleen Worman, told us a little bit about the art headed to the gallery as it comes from students attending the elementary school. Teachers at the school instructed their students to take pictures that demonstrated the culture surrounding them and they did just that, with the display in Gallery 234 being the culmination of their combined efforts. The whole idea behind the project was to share the unique and beautiful culture of West Laramie through the eye's of it's children. Some took pictures of their families while others focused more on symbolic objects. You can take a look at a selection of the photos on display in our gallery below.

This week in other related news, a separate group of students from Beitel Elementary School successfully lobbied Laramie City Council for a new "Welcome to Laramie" sign in West Laramie as well.
