Starting Monday, September 1, Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies, along with other food banks in the Feeding America network will kick off Hunger Action Month by holding events throughout the country to inspire people to take action to help the millions of people who are food insecure in the United States.

In Laramie, about 17.1% (6,200 people) of the population struggles with hunger, including 1,210 children (20.2%).

On September 6, 2014, Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies (WFBR) will bring a Mobile Food Pantry to Laramie to help people that are in need.  WFBR will be joining forces with Interfaith Good Samaritan located at 710 E. Garfield to bring additional food resources to the community.

Bags distributed to families in need will include a full meal component consisting of a boxed meal, fruit, and vegetable.  Additional fresh fruits and vegetables will be added to fill the bag along with a box of goodies for the kids.  In order to make this event happen, WFBR is looking for volunteers and sponsors.

Volunteers are needed to pack bags from 10:00 a.m. to noon and from 1- 4:00 p.m. to help with the food distribution.  The food will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.  If you wish to help sponsor this event, please contact Tonja Funch at Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies at (307)232-4011.
